The Frank L. Melega Art Museum Limited Edition, “Brownfield Patch” depicting children coming home from school on a rainy, overcast day, is based on the 1942 oil painting. The image is printed on canvas and is the same size as the original painting. A relatively new process called Giclee (shee-clay) is used to create the incredibly faithful reproductions. High praise from the atist’s son and museum co-founder Frank R. Melega, “I continue to be impressed with the quality and color of the Glicee process. My dad would be completely
satisfied with the results”. The Giclee printing process does not involve color separations like traditional printing. The permanency of a Giclee is now rated to last over one hundred years.

The process to create this Limited Edition began in 2004. After a number of false starts, wasted efforts, and downright incompetence, we finally found the right person for the job, Peter West. Mr. West’s Washington Pennsylvania art gallery, World West Galleries is also headquarters for his Giclee printing business. It takes a combination of artist, photographer, and computer expert to be able to produce a color accurate and detailed reproduction. Click here to link to World West Galleries. Links.html
